Countdown to destruction

A new year, brings with it a new challenge! This year I'll be tackling my most difficult one yet, the Amsterdam Marathon. 42.2 grueling kilometers with a personal goal of finishing in under 4 hours.

In the run-up to the Marathon, I'll also be taking part in the CPC half marathon in The Hague, the Hackney half marathon in London and of course the trusted Dam-tot-dam loop 2018 where I'll be trying to best my 2017 pb (1:31:30).

In 2016, I managed to raise 530 euros, surpassing my 400 euro goal by a whopping 33 percent. This year I'm going to up the ante, and try to raise 2000 euros by October.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most widespread disabling neurological condition of young adults around the world. You can develop MS at any age, but most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40. There are relapsing and remitting types of MS and progressive types, but the course is rarely predictable. Researchers still don’t fully understand the causes of MS or why the rate of progression is so difficult to determine. The good news is that many people with MS don’t become severely disabled and most have a normal or near-normal lifespan. I chose this cause because my mother-in-law has been diagnosed with it, and because we are very close to finding a cure and beating this horrible disease! If 50 people donate a euro/km I run, I'll reach my goal of raising 2000 euros by October!
